Stassi Schroeder | NEXT LEVEL BASIC

Synopsis (via Goodreads):

Millions of Vanderpump Rules viewers and podcast listeners know Stassi Schroeder as a major defender of Basic Bitch rights. There’s nothing more boring than people who take themselves too seriously or think that you have to be pretentious to be cool. Stassi champions the things that many of us are afraid to love publicly for fear of being labeled basic: lattes, pugs, bubbly cocktails, millennial pink, #OOTD (outfit of the day, obvs), astrology, hot dogs, the perfect pair of Louboutins, romantic comedies...the list goes on and on.

This book is for people tired of pretending they would rather see a Daniel Day-Lewis movie about sewing or read War and Peacethan watch a Saw marathon or read...well, this book!

In Next Level Basic, the reality star, podcast queen, and ranch dressing expert gives you hilarious and pointed lessons on how to have fun and celebrate yourself, with exclusive stories from her own life and on the set of Vanderpump Rules. From her very public breakups to her most intimate details about her plastic surgery, Stassi shares her own personal experiences with her trademark honesty—all with the hope you can learn something from them.

Review:

I am a HUGE Stassi Schroeder fan. Vanderpump Rules has been my non-guilty pleasure since day one and I cannot believe they are already wrapping up season seven! I was immediately in love with Stassi the minute I began watching the show and have really enjoyed watching her become the person she is today. It was refreshing and enjoyable to watch a young woman be so unapologetic and give zero effs while being so true to herself. I had read some nasty comments about Stassi being a brat or a bitch or how she handled certain situations and thought to myself "so what?" Putting your life out there for every Bravo fanatic to watch is a terrifying thought and naturally, they only edit the good stuff for television. Well, it's no surprise that when this novel came out, I had to read it. HAD. TO.

Stassi is like an unofficial life coach, therapist, and bestie wrapped into one brilliant and hilarious person. This book just gave me what I needed to not care what people thought of my choices. While there are some funny behind-the-scenes information regarding Vanderpump Rules, what I found surprising and enjoyable was that even people who've never seen the show could enjoy this book. So start saying "who cares?" more is what I took from this one. Who cares if I love to chug vodka waters? Who cares if Taco Bell is more enjoyable to me than a fancy dinner? Who cares if I love to rock out to Ariana Grande? SO WHAT?! This book taught me to not take any BS from anyone, to be true to myself, and was such an equal blend of empowering and hilarious, with some great tips from Stassi on how to be your best basic self - and ever since I closed the cover, that's exactly what the eff I am doing.

Special thanks to Gallery Books for this copy in exchange for my honest review...and to Stassi Schroeder for being such an inspiring bad-ass.
