TM Logan | THE VACATION
Plot (via Goodreads):
It was supposed to be the perfect holiday - a group of families enjoying a week together in the sun. Four women who have been best friends for as long as they can remember making the most of a luxurious villa in the south of France.
But Kate has a secret: her husband is having an affair. And a week away might just be the perfect opportunity to get the proof she needs - to catch him in the act once and for all. Because she suspects the other woman is one of her two best friends.
One of them is working against her, willing to sacrifice years of friendship to destroy her family. But which one? As Kate closes in on the truth in the stifling Mediterranean heat, she realises too late that the stakes are far higher than she ever imagined . . .
Because someone in the villa may be prepared to kill to keep their secret hidden.
Review:
What a fun and light twisty domestic thriller, The Vacation was! This was easily one to read in one or two sittings and went by rather quickly due to Logan's storytelling capabilities, the devious characters, and short chapters that basically dare you to try and put this book down.
While I didn't find many other than Kate likable, but each character definitely brought something exciting and intriguing to this story. I found that the diabolical characters were all believable in this setting and I loved the premise of this novel. Something about stories that have what is supposed to be the perfect getaway that turn deadly just really keep me immersed the entire time and Logan definitely hit the nail on the head when it came to building a suspenseful story that had vivid imagery.
My only drawback with this one was that the pacing was a little slower compared to what I usually like and I felt that it was kind of moving slowly with little breadcrumbs here and there leading me to the more suspenseful parts and keeping my interest. Once I got to the part where everything was coming together and the reveals were hitting me left and right, there was no stopping me. And although I usually like my tales a little darker, I loved the twist in this one and the ending was intense and a really enjoyable finale.
If you want something to gobble up this summer on the beach or lounging by your pool, I would definitely recommend this novel. It is the perfect light domestic thriller that will keep you on your toes and definitely keep you guessing until the very end.
