Lisa Unger | CONFESSIONS ON THE 7:45

 Plot (via Goodreads):

Selena Murphy is commuting home from her job in the city when the train stalls out on the tracks. She strikes up a conversation with a beautiful stranger in the next seat, and their connection is fast and easy. The woman introduces herself as Martha and confesses that she’s been stuck in an affair with her boss. Selena, in turn, confesses that she suspects her husband is sleeping with the nanny. When the train arrives at Selena’s station, the two women part ways, presumably never to meet again.

But days later, Selena’s nanny disappears.

Soon Selena finds her once-perfect life upended. As she is pulled into the mystery of the missing nanny, and as the fractures in her marriage grow deeper, Selena begins to wonder, who was Martha really? But she is hardly prepared for what she’ll discover.

Review:

WOW. This might be my favorite Lisa Unger book yet. I loved the way Unger gives you a synopsis for a story and you think you know what you're getting yourself into and she just wallops you with so many twists and turns that make it impossible to put down and this just might be her most unputdownable novel yet!

The plot to this novel is outlined perfectly and meticulously to the point that it not only shocked me on how brilliant it was but it made me daydream on what it's like inside the mind of Lisa Unger. We have chilly fall weather perfect for this time of year, a sterile and uninviting train, a missing woman, a possible stalker, the dreaded anxiety-hangover from the dreaded loose lips caused by alcohol and much, much more. I loved the characters in this story and in typical Unger fashion, you get a first-hand look into what they are thinking and going through in a story that is told from multiple viewpoints in different timelines and all woven together in a story that is sensationally chilling and bravely told.

I could go on and on about how much I love this book, but honestly? My advice is to go into this one blindly. If you like a story that is captivating and sinister, yet a perfect blend of psychological and domestic suspense with the twists and turns of a thriller then go get a copy now! This is definitely the perfect fall thriller and one I will be gushing about for a long time.

Special thanks to Lisa Unger for this copy in exchange for my honest review.
