Karin Slaughter | INDELIBLE

Plot (via Goodreads):

When the shooting stops, an officer is dead, Police Chief Jeffrey Tolliver is seriously wounded, and the survivors—including a class of grade-school children and medical examiner Sara Linton—are held hostage. In a tense standoff that could erupt at any moment into more bloodletting—with her ex-husband on the threshold of death—Sara must search for answers and an escape in the memories of a time at the start of their relationship when another brutal, shocking crime shattered their small-town world. Because the sins of the past have caught up with Sara and Jeffrey ... with a vengeance.

Review:

Another day, another great Karin Slaughter read. Seriously, I cannot get over how amazing this series is and how quickly 500 page books can just fly by. Even writing this review makes me want to dive back into the Will Trent series and ignore my TBR for this month. Indelible is by far my favorite read in the Grant County series thus far. Something about this case really hitting home for my favorite characters just made it immersive and utterly terrifying. The way that Slaughter brings forth so many well-written characters in a rollercoaster of a story is not only brilliantly shocking, but seriously chilling.

The fact that this one takes a different direction and kind of has an alternate timeline as we get see more of Sara and Jeffrey's past just solidified my belief that this is in fact the best series out there and I loved the contrast between the past and present. Per usual, I'm not giving away anymore when it comes to this story because this series is one that is devoured best when you are reading them blind. Reader beware, this series will suck you in.
