Sharon Bolton | DEAD WOMAN WALKING

I had PURE LUCK when I was provided with an early copy of DEAD WOMAN WALKING by Sharon Bolton by St. Martin's Press. I have heard so many amazing things about this read and that cover is BEYOND gorgeous.

Plot:

Just before dawn in the hills near the Scottish border, a young woman is brutally murdered. At the same time, a hot-air balloon crashes out of the sky. There’s just one survivor.
She’s seen the killer’s face – and he’s seen hers. Now he won’t rest until he’s eliminated the only witness to his crime.
Alone, scared, trusting no one, she goes on the run. But the biggest danger of all could be where she least expects to find it.

Review:

Okay, so it doesn't get any crazier than this right?! A hot air balloon crashes and the sole survivor has just witnessed a MURDER?! Wrong. WRONG. So wrong. This is just the icing on the cake. When I couldn't think that this book could get more intriguing and darkly addicting, I was wrong.

The plot to this one is unlike any else and without giving too much away, so much more is brewing behind the spine of this, plenty of twists and turns will be rounding about just ready to pounce on you. Be prepared. What I loved so much about this was it was not only suspenseful, but it's also really heavy into the psychological thriller territory that I have been loving so much. To be quite honest, that alone would be enough for me. Add in some seriously intense action scenes reminiscent of THE NET with Sandra Bullock and a ton of police procedural drama and this just gets better and better as you go along.

The characters in this one are so believable, it's impossible to believe that this is a work of fiction. Add in some really sassy and ridiculously strong nuns, a badass heroine, dedicated police, and a ruthless killer and what else could you possibly ask for? I loved the different scenes in this one telling the perspectives of our woman on the run and the man hunting her down. The author also did a fantastic job of showing the relationship between our heroine and her sister, adding in some mystery over what really happened to their relationship an their family growing up. This really added some genuine heart to the story and made it so much more enjoyable, as if that was even possible.

While this story is told in three separate parts, I was a little taken back by how much happened in Part One that I didn't know where this story could go. While I will admit, Part One did have some more slower parts in it and wasn't as intense as the rest, it did a great job of building not only some key central characters, but throwing in some major key elements as well that would be crucial to understanding this tightly woven plot filled with ominous twists and dangerously deceptive revelations. The minute I approached Part Two, I was in for it.

Without giving too much away, this was a really tense and suspenseful novel full of twists and turns at every corner and had so many amazing ingredients to a book unlike any other. If you don't snag yourself a copy of this read when it's released in the United States on September 5, 2017, you are seriously missing out. I guarantee this is one that will stay with you throughout not only this amazing journey of a novel, but also the chilling last page. Bravo, Sharon Bolton. I cannot wait to see what comes with your next novel.

Special thank you to St. Martin's Press for providing me with a copy of this one in exchange for my honest review.
