Alice Feeney | SOMETIMES I LIE

Plot (via Goodreads):

My name is Amber Reynolds. There are three things you should know about me:
1. I’m in a coma.
2. My husband doesn’t love me anymore.
3. Sometimes I lie.

Amber wakes up in a hospital. She can’t move. She can’t speak. She can’t open her eyes. She can hear everyone around her, but they have no idea. Amber doesn’t remember what happened, but she has a suspicion her husband had something to do with it. Alternating between her paralyzed present, the week before her accident, and a series of childhood diaries from twenty years ago, this brilliant psychological thriller asks: Is something really a lie if you believe it's the truth?

Review:

SOMETIMES I LIE is a dark, brilliantly told story featuring dazzling characters. I knew from the first chapter that I was onto something great with this one and Feeney did not disappoint. Similar to the plot, the storyline to this one is not only confusing at times, but enthralling and wastes no time getting to the main focus of this novel. I loved how this one featured one general mystery, but had about three arcs within the novel that really make you wonder

Not only did I love the characters in this novel, but Feeney does a fantastic job helping them evolve throughout the story. She wastes not one iota challenging these characters to showcase their perfections, impurities, and disastrous decisions. I could not get enough.

While this review is short and sweet, I simply cannot give too much away as the amount of shocking twists and turns not only come full force the last 30% of this novel, but are ones that you have to read to believe. Truly a beautifully twisted masterpiece that I can assure you everyone will be talking about.

*Special thanks to Flatiron Books for this novel in exchange for my honest review.
