Ruth Ware | ONE BY ONE

 Plot (via Goodreads):

Getting snowed in at a beautiful, rustic mountain chalet doesn’t sound like the worst problem in the world, especially when there’s a breathtaking vista, a cozy fire, and company to keep you warm. But what happens when that company is eight of your coworkers…and you can’t trust any of them?

When an off-site company retreat meant to promote mindfulness and collaboration goes utterly wrong when an avalanche hits, the corporate food chain becomes irrelevant and survival trumps togetherness. Come Monday morning, how many members short will the team be?

Review:

I have been waiting forever to read One by One by Ruth Ware and this one hit a lot of marks for me. I loved the setting, I loved the plot, the characters were great, and the ending was really well-done. My advice is to actually go into this one blindly and maybe start with this one if you want to dive into Ware's work. The reason I say that is because all aspects to a great Ruth Ware read are in this book to make it enjoyable, I just think it was missing the big shock factor that her other novels have but it is a great addition to her catalog. Either way, I thought this was an extremely enjoyable story and I'll always love Ruth Ware so have no fear because this one is definitely entertaining and one of her more cinematic reads yet. Maybe for me, it's just going to be really hard to find a story as much as I loved In a Dark, Dark Wood and Turn of the Key.

I loved the large cast of characters, the multiple POV, and the setting. I think this is definitely a story that will be fun to read during the winter months if you want something that isn't too dark or disturbing but has that entertaining and chilling Ruth Ware feel to it. While this one doesn't have that gothic feel that her other novels had, I still enjoyed it and found it to be a really entertaining read.

Special thanks to Gallery and Scout Press for this copy in exchange for my honest review.
