J.T. Ellison | NO ONE KNOWS

Plot (via Goodreads):

The day Aubrey Hamilton’s husband is declared dead by the state of Tennessee should bring closure so she can move on with her life. But Aubrey doesn’t want to move on; she wants Josh back. It’s been five years since he disappeared, since their blissfully happy marriage—they were happy, weren’t they?—screeched to a halt and Aubrey became the prime suspect in his disappearance. Five years of emptiness, solitude, loneliness, questions. Why didn’t Josh show up at his friend’s bachelor party? Was he murdered? Did he run away? And now, all this time later, who is the mysterious yet strangely familiar figure suddenly haunting her new life?

Review:

Okay, so major props to J.T. Ellison for always slaying the thriller game and also giving me a domestic suspense novel that has the pacing of a thriller and features the husband disappearing because that is a story-line we are not used to for fans of crime fiction. I absolutely loved this story. I thought Aubrey was a well-written and vivid character that tugged at my heartstrings and also had me rooting for her when she was a complete and utter badass; so again, props to Ellison. This novel was definitely immersive and kept me invested the entire time, I didn't find there to be any characters that were throwaways or didn't need to be in the novel, and the pacing was brilliant per usual.

I loved that this one had multiple character perspectives and again, this compliments Ellison's writing sensationally. As the novel progressed and I got to know the characters more, it was this battle of "ohhh, I knew she would do something like that, it's just so her" to "he did what now?!" This was such a fun and entertaining reading experience and the entire time, all I could think was how great of a television show or movie this would make, but I feel that way about all of her novels. Ellison has a knack for writing immersive stories with brilliant characters and wrapping them up in a cinematic and dazzling prose. I have no clue how she does it, but if you don't gobble up her entire backlist, then you're really missing out when it comes to the thriller and suspense genre.

Now, I don't want to go into any details or give anything away with this one, but oh my god were the twists and turns endless and so well accomplished. I had few ideas as to where this one would go and then I kind of was debunked multiple times by Ellison only to have a few of my inklings be accurate. Nevertheless, she stunned me once again and gave me one hell of an epilogue that I had to read over and over again just to fully grasp the way Ellison ended this story. Another job well done and another J.T. Ellison in the books (literally) that I am so glad I had the pleasure of reading.

Special thanks to J.T. Ellison herself for this copy in exchange for my honest review.
