Plot (via Goodreads):

Dom is having a very bad day—one he literally can’t escape.

When Dom bumps into Mia, his ex-fiancée whom he hasn’t seen in almost a decade, he believes they’ve been given a second chance and asks her out. When Mia dies tragically on their date, Dom makes a desperate wish: to be given the chance to save her life. And when he wakes the next morning to the shock that she’s alive, he thinks his wish may have been granted. But day after day, no matter what he changes about their time together, she still meets a terrible fate.

Dom frantically searches for answers to save his beloved Mia and rekindle their former love. But the further he digs, the more obsessed he becomes, making him realize that slowing down time may be the only way to see things clearly. As he’s forced to confront the truth about himself and those he’s closest to, Dom vows that he’ll watch Mia die a thousand times if it means he can save her once.

Review:

Take Groundhogs Day and combine it with your favorite romance movie and then add in a dash of Final Destination and the results? How to Save a Life. I absolutely loved this book. It has some angsty romance in it, it was thrilling, and it was also dramatic and entertaining. When I first read the synopsis to this I was wondering how Lisa and Liz could pull off such an intricate story-line without the book become redundant or stale but this story is proof that one should never doubt these two incredibly talented ladies.

I don't want to say too much about this one without giving it away, but I knew this would have at theme similar to Groundhogs Day, but there were some very intense and thrilling scenes that reminded me of the Final Destination movies combined with a race against time and a rather terrifying slumber. This story is actually so unique and so well-written that you will completely lose track of item when you're reading it. No one can mix together suspense and romance like Lisa and Liz! I loved the character of Dominic and the transition he goes through with this story. The relationships you see between him and Mia, his parents, his best friend, his boss, minor characters, etc. shows how your relationships with different people can help shape you into the person you are and I think that all the characters surrounding Dom were just as important to the story and his journey as he was.

I loved the way this story was told and I loved carefree Mia and seeing her death over-and-over again was heartbreaking and chilling, almost like I was Dom the entire time. I did like with each day there was something different that Dom experienced and each day also represented something about his personality and his truth that made this an interesting character study as well. Overall, I loved the story and I loved the different layers that were put into it. The ending was one I didn't see coming and I loved, yet made me sad the story was over and I had to say goodbye to these characters. If you're looking for something that will keep you immersed and invested in the story and characters, you need a copy of this book.

Special thanks to Lisa and Liz for this copy in exchange for my honest review.
